Why is it so hard to choose?
The Netflix Design Challenge:
Design a discovery experience on the Netflix app (mobile or tablet) that attempts
to solve the decision paralysis problem in choosing a movie.
The Problem:
Netflix users have difficulty finding things to watch. But why is that?
Discovery & RECOMMENDATIONS:
Giving users the option to select movies or shows based on their “mood journey” similar to Spotify’s approach.
Linking trusted review ratings (IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes) & live tags stemming from Director or Cast members.
MY Process:
Gathered information through user interviews and researched Netflix client feedback data from articles and past reviews
Set goals based on collected data on users frustrations and their burning desires
Mapped out and analyzed user’s thinking and feelings while using Netflix
Build user stories, while using multiple user experiences and personas
Studied Netflix competitors and what they do well to solve the indecision problem
Brainstormed recommendations and possible solutions based on analyzing collected data
Narrowed down recommendations to Three ultimate solutions to improve Netflix Interface
